Notice about stealthbanning practices in Facebook

We’ve just received reports from multiple reliable sources that the Finnish Broadcasting company Yleisradio and multiple top politicians using Facebook have been using the so called ‪#‎stealthbanning‬ feature to ‪#‎hide‬ comments from their Facebook pages. Stealth banning is also know as ‪#‎hellbanning‬.

The comments hidden have been appropriate replies to their posts. Not spam, not anything illegal or otherwise against the rules.

Stop the hellbanning now. People have the right to hear the facts and all sides of this situation at ‪#‎malmiairport‬ and ‪#‎Helsinki‬

From this point on we will publish and report every stealth banned comment with links to the original post. As far as we know, Yleisradio has fixed this issue but there’s still many perfectly good comments stealth banned on other Facebook pages. Please spread the message. This is against ‪#‎freedomofspeech‬ and it shouldn’t happen in Finland. Not today, not ever. Especially in ‪#‎democracy‬ and when making ‪#‎democratic‬ decisions the ”freedom of speech is understood to be fundamental in a democracy. The norms on limiting freedom of expression mean that public debate may not be completely suppressed even in times of emergency.” (Quote: Wikipedia, as of 20th of July 2016)
