Finavia, the limited corporation fully owned by Finnish State and legally binded to provide services tried today an old tactic used in school exams ”When you don’t know the answer, try answering something else instead”. Everyone probably remembers how well that worked in school.
Suomen Ilmailuliitto, the Finnish Aeronautical Association asked Finavia on the 22th of August to provide general aviation services at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
Today Finavia answered to Suomen Ilmailuliitto about some hobby aircraft flyers. Of course, flying as a hobby is part of general aviation but in general aviation is much more than that.
Helsinki-Malmi Airport is the third busiest airport in Finland and the second busiest in the Helsinki area after Helsinki-Vantaa. The city of Helsinki plans to destroy the Helsinki-Malmi Airport at the end of this year (2016) and start a housing development project. Citizen’s movement Lex Malmi aims to keep the airport.
